Unit Deposit Account changes

Effective September 2013

Many of our Scout units have two custodial accounts held by the Istrouma Area Council. One for registration and one for the Scout Shop. In order to lessen the administrative cost in tracking and auditing these separate accounts will become one.

To learn more about the Unit Deposit Account processes and reports contact Roslyn Davidson or Mary Liotto at 225-926-2697.

Avondale Scout Reservation (ASR) & Carruth

Camping Permit Changes

Effective September 2013

Due to changes in assignments, the council has made the following changes to assist you in reserving sites at ASR and Carruth.

The Scout Office can receive reservation paperwork and can answer many of your general use questions. For specific questions about current conditions and service projects, call the ASR Camp main phone number (225-683-3489) and leave a message for your ranger staff: EJ or Brad. This is an answer phone that is usually reviewed between 4-6 PM daily except Monday and Tuesday when Camp is normally closed.

The paperwork can be found at www.campavondale.org

You can email permits to Permit@campavondale.org for approval.

During the last camping year (September 2012-August 2013) there were over 24,000 camper nights at ASR & Carruth.

Thank you all for keeping the OUTING is SCOUTING.

Bass Pro Shop   Boy Scout Month at Bass Pro Shops

We are proud to announce that September is Boy Scout Month at Bass Pro Shops.  The Bass Pro Shops promotional partnership is now in its sixth year.  The workshops are offered on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and weekends for the duration of the promotion, and they will be on subjects like fishing and rifle shooting, with all participants completing a worksheet and earning a lapel pin.  Opportunities are available to test youth bows, practice casting, shoot air rifles and do many other things.

During the calendar month of September, Bass Pro Shops will offer customers an opportunity to donate $2 or $5 to the BSA at each cash register.  This donation will also enter the customer into a drawing for a $500, $250 or $100 Bass Pro Shops gift card if the customer completes their information on the donation form.  At the end of the promotion, 50 percent of the money collected will come to the National Council and the other 50 percent will be given to our local council.
