Think you want to try Boy Scouts for a Weekend?  Join us for fantastic Drum Fishing trip on the Sea Star III in Cape May, NJ.

Who: any boy 10 years and up who would like to see what Scouting is all about.  Never been in Scouts before?  That's OK with us!
When: leaving Friday, May 15th around 5:00 PM, returning Sunday, May 17th around 5:00 PM
Where: meet at the Freedom Optimist Hall on Route 32 in Eldersburg. 
  • We will be camping on Friday and Saturday evenings at Beachcomber Campground in Cape May, NJ
Cost: $50 for boys, $70 for parents

Why are we doing this: We want to spread the word about Boy Scouts and what our troop has to offer.  We hope you and your boy(s) will come out and have a great time.  If you like what you see, please consider joining us in some of our other upcoming events.  Don't worry, there is no obligation to join Troop 110.

Timeline of Events:
Friday Evening
  • 5 PM: Meet at the Freedom Optimist Club on Route 32 in Eldersburg (next to the Pizza Hut).
    • Meet and Greet.
    • Quick introduction to Troop 110, our goals and activities.
    • What it means to be a "Boy run Troop"
  • 5:30 PM: Depart Eldersburg for Cape May 
  • 7:30 PM: Stop for dinner in Delaware
  • 9:30 PM: Arrive at the Beachcomber Campground

Saturday

  • Morning: wake up and cook breakfast over a campfire
  • After breakfast through mid-afternoon: Scout's choice.  As a "Boy run Troop", our Scouts will plan how to spend their free time before the fishing trip begins.  Possibilities include kayaking on a back bay, hiking / bird watching in the salt marsh, hitting the beach, going to the Wildwood Boardwalk or anything else the boys discover.
  • 3:15 PM: Check in at the Sea Star III at the Miss Chris Marina
  • 4:00 PM to 10:00 PM: Drum fishing.
    • We will eat dinner on the boat.  The menu will be determined by the Scouts during one of our weekly Thursday Troop meetings.
  • 10:30 PM : Back to the campground

Sunday

  • Morning: wake up and cook breakfast
  • After breakfast, pack up our campsite, then another Scout's choice event.
  • 1:00 PM: Leave Cape May for home
  • 5:00 PM: Arrive back at the Optimist Club in Eldersburg

Waivers:

  • Complete the Troop 110 permission slip.  (To be available shortly)
