As scouts, we have the privileged burden of society's higher expectation on our youth.  There is universal understanding of what a scout stands for and the hard work and commitment he endures to achieve each rank. Together, the parents partnering with our scout leaders, help to teach and reinforce positive life skills, building the foundation towards our next generation of good citizens and leaders.  This universal understanding may be acknowledged by a passerby's gentle nod of appreciation of the uniformed scout at a flag ceremony, a handshake from a stranger in need after collecting food at a community service event or a simple "thank you" from a senior at a grocery store that just couldn't reach the top shelf but you did.  Scouting is about volunteering and giving with no expectations in return and about doing what's right and stepping up when others will not or can not.

Yes, scouting is about camping, eating s'mores and telling ghost stories at the campfire, hiking, racing derby cars, building friendships and completing badge requirements.  But in reality, it is so much more.  We hope that you enjoy your year-round adventures with our pack and will have many memories to look back on.

Yours in Scouting,
Ben Rupp, Cub Master
