The Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) conducts an Eagle Scout of the Year (SOY) competition every year. The 2008 - 2009 program resulted in recognition of 22 Eagles across Virginia. The 2009 Virginia Scout of the Year winner received a $500 award from the Department and went on to win the National VFW competition for VFW Scout of the Year, earning an additional $5000 scholarship!
Final date for Scouts to submit entries to VFW Post:
1 March 2010
The VA VFW Scouting team will take the first ten Eagles submitting a Scout of the Year application before 31 December 2009 to the "Price of Freedom" program in Valley Forge (February 2010)
