Trainings are offered online and through all the various BSA districts. Below is information regarding the offerings from East Trinity Trails (our district) but do not feel constrained to only East Trinity Trails trainings. Check with other Circle Ten districts whose trainings may work better with your schedule.
All parents and leaders are encouraged to take advantage of the online trainings available at no cost (most take less than an hour).
We specifically encourage every parent to take the Youth Protection Training course and This is Scouting (an overview and introduction of the BSA Program).
To be considered "Trained," a registered leader must complete the following three training courses:
1. This is Scouting (available online)
2. Youth Protection Training (available online)
3. Position Specific Training (live course, approx. 3 hours)
a. Tiger Den Leader
b. Wolf/Bear Den Leader
c. Webelos Den Leader
d. Committee Chair
e. Cubmaster
All leaders are also encouraged to complete BALOO Training (basic adult leader outdoor orientation). Every pack must have at least one Baloo Trained leader in order for that pack to participate in weekend camping.
