POPCORN CAMPAIGN 2016

To: Parents of Pack 169's Cub Scouts

From: Popcorn Kernel - Jerry & Theresa Weed

To get all of your Popcorn Campaign 2016 information, please check out the Council's Resource Page.

100% participation from all Scouts (registered before Oct 1).  The reason we require 100% participation is that the Pack uses the first $60 of the Scout's commission to purchase all of the awards that the boys earn during the year.  By selling just $190 in popcorn, a Scout will provide the Pack enough to buy his awards for the year without passing that cost on to his family and it's really simple to do:

1.  Sell a minimum of $190 in Popcorn (at 32% commission) OR

2. If you decline to participate, pay $60 to the Pack so that we can pay for your Scout's awards OR

3. You could sell some popcorn and simply pay the difference.  The funds generated by the Popcorn Sale every year pay for any awards, patches, belt loops, and pins that the boys will earn in the coming year.

Example:  A Scout sells $100 of popcorn.  30% of his sales comes to Pack 169 as revenue which equals $30.00.  His obligation to the pack fundraiser is $60.  Therefore, remainder due to the pack is $60 - $30.00 = $30.00.

Ways to sell Popcorn:

On-line:  Go to the following website: Trail's End to sign in or create an account.  Sell to relatives and friends out of town.

Take Orders:  Take orders on your popcorn order form and turn in by October 21.

Neighborhood Blitzes:

A Blitz is a day
to pick up a popcorn kit from the Popcorn Kernel and take to your neighborhood and sell that day.  Any unsold product and money collected that day will be returned to the Kernel the same day.  Statistics show that by walking around a neighborhood, Scouts average $100 to $150 in sales per hour.

Show & Sells:

A "Show & Sell" is where a Den Leader (or an assigned parent) can pick up a popcorn kit from the Popcorn Kernel and take to a pre-designated store front (e.g., Kroger) and sell that day.  Any unsold product and money collected that day will be returned to the Kernel the same day.  Statistics show that by working at a "Show & Sell," Scouts average $150 to $200 in sales per hour.

TRY IT!! And earn rewards.

Class A Uniform  is required for selling popcorn via Take Order, Blitz, and Show & Sell.

Revenue generated from Neighborhood Blitzes, Take Orders, Show & Sells, and Online Sales will be credited towards individual Scout's sales for prizes and will follow the guidelines set below for Scout Accounts.

Scout Accounts for “Pack 169 Bucks”

After the $200 minimum sales goal is reached, 32% of additional Take Order sales, Neighborhood Blitz sales, and On-Line sales will be credited as Pack 169 Bucks into the individual scout’s account.

For Example: A Scout sells $425 in popcorn:

The profit ($60) from the first $190 of sales goes towards the obligation to the Pack.  Then, 32% of the additional $225 in sales will be credited as Pack 169 Bucks into the individual scout’s account ($235 x 32% = $75.20).

Pack 169 Bucks may be used for any event, charges, dues, etc. that the Pack Treasurer collects and disburses payment for.  IE: Resident Camp, Day Camp, Tag a longs, Pack-furnished Class B T-shirts for scout or family, Annual Registration fees, etc.  Pack 169 Bucks may NOT be used to buy anything at the Scout Shop under any circumstances.

We are a non-profit organization.  Therefore, if a Scout quits the Pack, no cash can be disbursed to individuals from Scout Accounts.  Pack 169 Bucks can be carried over to next year’s Cub Scout Account or transferred to a Boy Scout Account in the event that a boy has reached 11 years of age or has earned his Arrow of Light and crosses over into a Boy Scout Troop
