One the most active Cub Scout Packs in North-Central Massachusetts, Groton Pack 12 is comprised of roughly 5 dens consisting of 6-12 cub scouts. There are about 50 boys total ranging from ages 6 to 10 - 1st to 5th grade. We are a year-round, home-centered program.

Each den has its own schedule of meetings where the boys get together and work on projects and rank advancement skills. Dens generally meet once or twice a month and the Pack has a whole has its meeting at the end of the month. A one-time fee of $65.00 covers basic member across all ranks with achievement awards and many pack activities being covered via annual fundraising efforts.

Cub Scouting emphasizes involvement between boys and their parents, adult leaders, community, and friends. Representative activities include: Fundraising efforts (popcorn and tree sales), Community Service (GrotonFest Recycling, Rail Trail Cleanup), Pinewood Derby, Model Rocket Day, Area Hikes, Webelos Woods, Rank Advancement (Blue & Gold Banquet, Cross-Over Ceremony) as well as a wide range of optional overnight activities including Boston’s Museum of Science, Worcester’s EcoTarium, Fall River’s Battleship Cove and Plimouth Plantation.

Cub Scouting gives young boys the opportunity to try new things, be of service to others, build character by teaching confidence and self-reliance, while reinforcing ethical behavior. Through planned advancement, Scouts are always in a learning environment, increasing their capacity for goal-setting, choice making and accomplishment.

Meaning of Cub Scout Uniform Colors:

The Cub Scout colors are blue and gold. They have special meaning, which will help boys see beyond the fun of Cub Scouting to its ultimate goals. The blue stands for truth and spirituality, steadfast loyalty, and the sky above. The gold stands for warm sunlight, good cheer, and happiness.
