What is a Den?

A den is a group of six to eight boys in the same grade or age group. There are five types of dens:

  • Tiger
  • Wolf
  • Bear
  • Webelo I
  • Webelo II

What are Den Meetings?

Den meetings are a time for learning new things and having fun. Dens are led by a team of adult volunteers - the den leader and assistant den leader(s). Den leaders are usually adult family members of boys in the den.

What is a pack?

A pack is the combination of all the dens within a given Pack.

How often do Cub Scouts meet?

Den meetings occur once or twice a month from September to May the following year. The day, time and place are coordinated by the den leader with input from all the parents of the scouts.

Pack meetings occur once a month on Friday night. Typically  Starting time is usually 6:30 p.m. (unless directed otherwise).

What do scouts do at these meetings?

Den meetings: learning new things, having fun and working on projects and accomplishments to be presented at the Pack Meetings

Pack meetings: a time to recognize the scouts for their accomplishments during the month and to have fun with the entire family.

Do scouts go on any trips?

Each month some type of travel activity is planned for the scouts to participate in. These activities range from hikes, trips to different points of interest.  Family members (siblings) are invited to attend these activities. 

What does it cost to join scouting?

Cost is $70.00 per scout year. This cost covers the annual $12 fee for a one year subscription to Boys Life Magazine. A $10 registration fee with CT Rivers Council and $48 fee which helps pay supplies for all den activities.

Uniform and accessories are additional. Any awards earned through the scout year will be paid for by the Pack.
