It's never too early to start thinking about Girl Scout cookies!
Get ready for the 2010 cookie sale!
In
the winter/spring girls will be able to be a part of an exclusive
experience. Only Girl Scouts can sell something that most people crave
throughout the year…that’s right, Girl Scout cookies. We will be
partnering with Little Brownie Bakers in a program entitled “Inspired
by U” where Girl Scouts across the country will be inspiring change.
They will discover what matters most, connect with people in their
community and use the power of Girl Scout Cookies to take action and
make the world a better place.
Girl Scouts have been selling
cookies for years as a way to raise money for troop activities. The
tradition has become so popular that many people anxiously await Girl
Scout cookie time.
The program's popularity doesn't end with consumers. Girls love selling Girl Scout cookies as well.
Benefits for Girls
For
many girls, the Girl Scout cookie program is their first
entrepreneurial venture and helps foster a sense of achievement that
resonates far into the future. Girl Scout cookies are only sold for a
few short weeks, but the benefits for girls last throughout their
entire lives!
Many
of today’s successful businesswomen credit their professional
accomplishments to their early start in the Girl Scout Cookie Sale
program. Because of this experience, they learned how to be members of
a team, work toward a common goal, interact with customers in a
professional manner, follow through on a commitment, and strive to do
their best.
Selling cookies helps girls develop a wide range of skills, including:
· Leadership
· Money management
· Decision making
· Customer service
· Planning
· Goal setting
· Teamwork
· Public speaking
Cookie Impact
A
portion of the money raised goes directly to local troops selling
cookies, which allows troops to finance program goals and activities
such as field trips, camp outings, and community service projects. The
remainder is used to make Girl Scouting available to every girl in the
area who would like to participate. Proceeds also help Girl Scouts
of Southeastern Michigan recruit and train volunteers, maintain
campgrounds, and support initiatives such as outreach, science
activities, career workshops, and financial assistance
