Our Chartered Organization

BSA Troop 46 "Freedom Outpost" is chartered by
the
All Saints Catholic Community in Berlin, Germany.

All Saints is a fully integrated, multicultural community with English as its unifying language.  It is an open, warm, welcoming, inclusive community that prays together and celebrates its diversity.

-All Saints Catholic Community Mission Statement

On behalf of All Saints, welcome to Troop 46 "Freedom Outpost."  We are proud to charter Troop 46, one of the oldest existing BSA troops in Europe. Our ties with Troop 46 date back to the American presence in West Berlin under the Berlin Brigade.

All Saints has been sharing its facilities, the site of the former US Army Chapel, with Protestant and Jewish faiths, for over fifty years... a tradition dating back to 1957!  We believe that dialogue, respect and understanding of world religions are an integral part of our mission as a BSA charter organization.  Therefore, we support the Boy Scouts of America Declaration of Religious Principle which "recognizes the religious element in the training of the member, but is absolutely nonsectarian in its attitude toward that religious training."

We take great pride in our harmonious religious coexistance  and warmly welcome boys of all faiths into our Troop.

For more information about our community, please visit our website at:

We look forward to meeting you!

SCOUTING PEACE LIGHT 2008

The Transatlantic Council (TAC) International Committee requested Berlin Scouts to represent TAC in this international Scouting event.  Members of Troop 46, Troop 895 and Pack 152 were invited to join the Berlin Scouting delegation.

Congratulations to Oliver Groeling and Theo Markwardt for representing Troop 46 in Austria.

Oliver was chosen to speak on behalf of BSA's Transatlantic Council & North East Region in this international Scouting event because his Peace Wish...

"ties in scouting and scouting activities with promoting peace through the scout law and it mentions tolerance, understanding, equality and freedom, which is what the Peacelight movement is all about."
-The TAC International Committee

The Peacelight Scouting procression started in Vienna on December 13th and made its way to Berlin on December 14th followed by
an ecumenical Scouting Peacelight Service at the medieval Marienkirche in Berlin-Mitte.

PEACE LIGHT BACKGROUND

The Peace Light from Bethlehem in Austria was created as a charitable relief mission for children in need. Since 1986, it has co-operated with Scouts in many countries allowing the light to travel throughout Europe. Each year, an Austrian youth fetches the light from Jesus' birthplace in Bethlehem and brings it back to Austria for distribution it at a service of dedication to delegations from across Europe.   The Scouts take it back with a message of Peace to their own countries. The light has been presented to such dignataries as Pope John Paul II, Mikhail Gorbatshow and former King Hussain of Jordan.
