The Scout Oath

On My Honor, I Will Do My Best To Do My Duty, To God And My Country, And Obey The Scout Law. To Help Other People At All Times. To Keep Myself Physically Strong, Mentally Awake, And Morally Straight.
Whose woods these are I think I know.
His house is in the village, though;
He will not see me stopping there
To watch his woods fill up with snow.

My little horse must think it queer
To stop without a farmhouse near
Between the woods and frozen lake
The darkest evening of the year.

He gives his harness bells a shake
To ask if there is some mistake.
The only other sound's the sweep
Of easy wind and downy flake.

The woods are lovely, dark, and deep,
But I have promises to keep,
And miles to go before I sleep,
And miles to go before I sleep.

The Old Oak Tree

Standing close by the old oak tree

I got to thinking of just how old it might be

Starting its life from a small sprouting shoot

Growing so strong with its long tapering roots

Its dark solid trunk searching up towards the sky

Getting stronger each day, as the seasons pass by

Standing ever so stately, so solid, so proud

The Old Oak Tree', a symbol of beauty and strength all rolled into one!

S DRISCOLL

This particular Post Oak Tree is very old and may have been enjoyed by the settlers that once lived in the pre-Civil War log cabin, of which only a fireplace and chimney remain.  This tree can be seen in the Isle du Bois Unit of Ray Roberts State Park.
