Our pack is chartered by the American Legion Post #567 of St. Michael, MN. Please acknowledge and thank them for supporting the scouting program the next time you stop in.
Boys in grades kindergarten through
fifth take part in fun indoor and outdoor activities working with
parents and leaders to develop practical and positive social skills,
learning to do their best and to help others. Our pack events include
variety of activities ranging pinewood derby, regatta races, rockets in
the park, caroling, crafts and of course the winter and summer camp
opportunities.
The basic Cub Scout program features
age appropriate scouting skills and throughout the program we encourage
the scouts to live by the Scout Promise and Law. The boys are
encouraged to grow mentally, physically, and spiritually.
Why join scouting? Simply put, it is fun and "good for life." Specifically some of the benefits of scouting are:
- Good for the boys life -
providing new friends, well rounded experiences, fun, learning and
introducing a network of caring adults.
- Good for family life -
offering ways for parents and their sons to spend meaningful time
together, strengthening relationships, and building life-long
memories.
- Good for community life -
instilling an ethic of service above self, providing service
projects that make our community a better place and bring people
together.
- Good for a lifetime - values
of the cub scout pledge, friendships made, exposure to experiences
which they would not have otherwise had and life skills developed
-all stay with the boys long after their scout days are over.
Time Commitment?
- Kindergarteners through fifth graders meet once or twice a month in a den (a smaller group of boys all in the same grade) and once a month as a Pack (a much larger group which includes all scouts grades K-5 in our pack.) Total of 2-3 times a month.
Ranks and Badges
- Each year, scouts work
on achievements listed in their handbook to earn the rank of their grade
(Kindergarten: Lions, First grade: Tiger, Second grade:Wolf, Third grade: Bear and Fourth and Fifth grade: Webelos) and the corresponding badge. These badges represent one of the foundations of scouting - advancement.
