Venturing Crew

 

What is Venturing?

A youth development program of the Boy Scouts of America for young men and women who are 13 (and have completed the eighth grade) through 20 years of age.

A co-ed program that provides adventure, leadership skills, and community service to help young people mature and prepare them to become responsible and caring adults.

 

Examples of what Venturing does?

SCUBA, Shooting Sports, Rock Climbing, Native American Culture & Dance, Sailing, Kayaking, Canoeing, Backpacking & Hiking, Theater & The Arts, Mountain Biking, Winter Sports, Horseback riding and So Much More!!!

Venturing Crew 26 of East Rockaway, NY


   

VENTURING is a challenging, high-adventure, activity, sports, and hobbies, centered program designed for young men and young women ages 14 to 20 (and have completed the eighth grade). Program highlights include teaching teenagers leadership skills, providing opportunities to teach others, and to give them an opportunity to learn and grow in a supporting, caring, and fun environment. It's purpose is to provide positive experiences to help young people mature and to prepare them to become responsible and caring adults.

 

Venturing crews can specialize in a variety of avocation or hobby interests. Venturing programs are developed around six experience areas of emphasis:

  • OUTDOOR

  • FITNESS

  • LEADERSHIP

  • SOCIAL

  • CITIZENSHIP

  • SERVICE 

Awards in the Venturing Program
  • Venturing 
  • Discovery
  • Pathfinder
  • and Summit Awards!

Venturers may begin earning these new awards in May of 2014, but must switch by Jan. 1, 2015.

  • Current Venturers will skip the Venturing Award and begin with working on the Discovery Award (previously known by the temporary title Level II), regardless of whether they've earned the Bronze, Gold and/or Silver awards.
  • New Venturers would begin with the Venturing Award (previously known by the temporary title Level I).
