Give Cub Scouts A Try

Pack 102 is chartered by the Kunkletown Volunteer Fire Department and has been for over 30 years.  Their social hall hosts many of our pack events such as monthly pack night, Pinewood Derby and our Blue and Gold banquet.  We are a Quality Unit and have been for some time. We have a very busy pack that likes to try new things and go to exciting places.

In 1930, the Boy Scouts of America created a new opportunity called Cub Scouting.  It is for boys younger than Boy Scout age. A year-round, home-centered program used by chartered organizations, Cub Scouting emphasizes involvement between boys and their parents, adult leaders, and friends. In the multidimensional plan of the Boy Scouts of America, Cub Scouting is where it all begins.

Purposes:
*Influence a boy's character development and spiritual growth.
*Develop habits and attitudes of good citizenship.
*Encourage good sportsmanship and pride in growing strong in mind and body.
*Improve understanding within the family.
*Strengthen a boy's ability to get along with others
*Foster a sense of personal achievement by developing new interests and skills.
*Provide fun and exciting new things to do.
*Show a boy how to be helpful and do his best.
*Prepare him to be a Boy Scout and ultimately prepare him for life.

The Cub Scout colors are blue and gold. Blue signifies the sky, truth, spirituality, and loyalty. Gold stands for warm sunlight, good cheer, and happiness. Together they symbolize what Cub Scouting is all about!

During den meetings a Cub Scout starts an activity. Perhaps it is a project or a skit for the next pack meeting. During the week with his parents help he finishes the project or perfects his part of the event. If it happens to be something required for advancement, his parent sign his Cub Scout book and also presents his work to his Den Leader for approval as well as share with his den or perhaps the entire pack.  In this way, Cub Scouting helps to strengthen family ties, build self esteem by being proud of their accomplishments as well as team building.  Pack meetings, attended by boys and their families, give parents a chance to see their son in action.  Most pack meetings start with a formal opening followed by announcements, skits or themed programs, awards and a closing.  Parents may view exhibits or participate activities as well.  We encourage parents to take an active role not only with their Scout but in the Pack as a whole.

Our unit offers many, many activities and fun things to do during each month such as:  Pack picnic, Rocket Launch, Cubmobile Races, Roller Skating at LaRosa’s, Battleship New Jersey sleep-over, Halloween Parade in Kunkletown, Scouting for Food, Ross Township clean-up day, Summer Camp, and lots more!  Family and friends are welcomed to attend Pack events.  Cub Scouting is what you and your family make of it.  We are here to give you the opportunity to make the most of it.

We invite you to contact us or come to one of our pack nights.  See what our pack is all about!
