Welcome To Pack 86!

Pack 86 is chartered by East Bradford Elementary School PTO on 820 Frank Rd. West Chester, PA 19380
and has over 30 years of Cub Scouting Excellence.

Organization:
Our pack is open to all boys & girls in the Kindergarten through 5th grade.  Pack 86 has a very strong and active Cub Scout program that typically follows the school calendar, however, we also have programs that can last through the summer months as well.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Boys may join at ANY TIME during the year!

The pack is organized by "Dens" each one representing a grade level:
Kindergarten - Lion
        1st Grade - Tiger

The "PACK" is all dens and leadership combined together.

Please Note, Pack 86 may have more than one den per grade level. Example, we can have 2 or 3 Wolf Dens or Tiger Dens, etc. We try to keep all dens to a maximum of 8 boys per den.

Meeting Schedules:

The Pack meets once per month, typically towards the 2nd week of each month at East Bradford Elementary School.
  • Typical Pack activities include: Scouting for Food (November), Pack 86 Adopt-A-Family (December), Cub Scout Iditarod (January), Bowl-A-Thon (Jan/Feb), Pinewood Derby (February), Cub-O-Ree camping experience (June), and Wilmington Blue Rocks Baseball Game (July). The annual Blue and Gold Banquet (breakfast) is held in March and our Pack Graduation ceremony is held in May.
Den meetings depend on what the members of the den decide.  Den meeting locations also vary, again depending on what the Den decides.  Some Dens meet at the den leaders home, other at the school or other facilities.

A complete list of den meetings can be provided to perspective scouts at registration.

Parent Summary

The primary goal for Cub Scouts and for Pack 86 is to have fun while developing life skills and an appreciation of the outdoors, citizenship, and family. Scouting offers your boys an organized and unique opportunity not available with other club and recreational activities to build strong character that will promote success throughout their lives.

Cub Scouts is a participative organization… parents/sponsor must be engaged with their “favorite” cub scout. It is suggested that some requirements for each rank (or level) be reserved for “home activity” to facilitate this involvement and future develop the bond between scout and sponsor. Whenever possible, both moms and dads are encouraged to participate in their son’s progress through Scouts.

Pack 86 is chartered by East Bradford Elementary School with a 30 year history. The Pack is active with an average of 60-70 boys. The Pack is supported financially through 3 avenues: dues, annual popcorn sale (October), and Bowl-A-Thon (Jan-Feb). Outside of re-chartering with the Council office (which includes insurance and a subscription to Boys Life magazine), the primary expense to the Pack is supporting awards and activities for your favorite scout. One of the traditions of Pack 86 is to give back to the community: each winter, the Pack sponsors a family for the holidays that would not enjoy a bountiful holiday without our assistance.
