2015 Trip Announcement - Updated 8/18/2014

Venture Crew 2713 going to go in the summer of 2015 and we are opening up slots 1st to current crew members, then to my friends (if you are reading this you qualify) then open to anyone. Requirements are you must register with Crew 2713, we are a co-ed Venture Crew, be at least 14 and younger than 21, be able to pass the BSA swim test prior to arriving in Louisiana, no more than 250 lbs (per their website but there are possible exceptions contact me privately), and pay a non-refundable $50 by August 1 (unless there is someone to take your place) Because we can take 2 Trek Crews of 8-11 each (including 2 leaders per crew), the number of spots is a little flexible. The price of the trek is either $500 or $550 (depending on how many go) plus the cost of transportation (we are looking at flying) current airline ticket is about $500 so to be conservative, I am budgeting between $1200 and $1400 per person to be conservative (this to include Trek, Transportation, any gear which may need to be bought, although the packing list is pretty basic, message me for a copy of it, and finally spending money for souvenirs and such in Louisiana, this will be finalized by a vote in August by those who sign up to go . Payment in Full is due on April 1st. We plan on doing fundraisers to pay our way, but will setup a payment plan at the meeting in August again to be voted on. This is a 60 mile kayak trip through the swamps of Louisiana, but only 1 night is spent outdoors, also the 50 miler patch will be earned. If this sounds like an adventure you would like to go on, we currently have 5 leaders and 3 crewmembers committed to going. We do have a female leader, but if another one wants to go that is ok also.

Want to go? Just click on Contact Our Crew at the top of this page!

We currently have 8 people signed up - 6 have paid their deposit since we have had no further inquiries we will only be taking 1 Trek Crew and we have 2 slots to fill.

A Trek Meeting will be held on Sept 8th at 7:30 pm email us if you would like to attend.

Trek dates will be June 17th-23rd, 2015

Next Meeting

Due to our crew staffing Bear Lake Aquatics Base this summer

next meeting will be in August

Regular Meetings

While we don't have a permanent place to meet yet, we will be meeting every Monday at 7 pm.  We will have a location decided at least 48 hours in advance and will post it here for anyone who wants to visit and we will send it via email to all members of the Crew.

We do plan to have as many meetings outdoors as we can, unless inclement weather forces us inside.

We welcome anyone, who wants to know how the Crew is run, to come visit us.

Charter Organization

We have the unique opportunity to be chartered to a group that voluntarily came together to help the Community. This type of selfless service is a core value of Scouting and the fact that it is also fun, just makes it even better.

Mission Statement: Heroes Engaging Real Organizations in Charity (H.E.R.O.I.C.), Inc. is a volunteer costuming club dedicated to serving the community. Through the use of high-quality costuming and character portrayal we aim to help create fun and engaging environments at no cost to charities and community functions.
