Welcome to Cub Scout Pack 279, Tomah, WI

Pack 279 is open to all 1st through 5th grade boys in the Tomah, Wi area. We are in the Winding Trails District of the Gateway Area Council of the Boy Scouts of America (BSA) program.

Please contact us through our facebook page https://www.facebook.com/pages/Cub-Scout-Pack-279-Tomah-WI/145926738778224    or through the link at the top of this page.

We are charted by Gloria Dei Luthern Church, Tomah Wi. Our charter organization is our sponsor and provides us with meeting space at the Church.

Our Pack has about 20-30 boys organized by Dens. Each Den usually has 6 to 8 boys of the same grade level. Dens are a great way to make and stay in touch with friends. Boys may join at any grade, whether or not they've been scouts before.
  • 1st graders are in Tiger Dens
  • 2nd graders are in Wolf Dens
  • 3rd graders are in Bear Dens
  • 4th graders are in Webelos I Dens
  • 5th graders are in Webelos II Dens

Our Pack Leadership is made up of parent volunteers who have sons in our program. There are no paid personnel running our Pack; therefore, we need parents like yourself to help run this great group of boys!

  • Pack 279 is NOT Exclusive - We welcome boys and families of all races, ethnic groups, and religious backgrounds.
  • Pack 279 is NOT Day Care - Your family will need to attend all events and be active in our Pack. You need to watch your own kids.
  • Our activities are family, parent/son oriented and some welcome sisters and other siblings
  • Everyone is expected to "Help Pack 279 Go!"

Please take some time and familiarize yourself with our extensive website. Click on the "Parents' Page" link on the left side menu to join Cub Scout Pack 279 today! We look forward to seeing your family at our next Pack Meeting.

Pick here or pick the "Events and Activities" on the left side menu to get an ideal of how much time your family will spend enjoining all our Pack fun!!!

Sincerely,
Pack 279 Leadership

What Pack 279's Website is all About

Purpose:
Pack 279 built this website to help current, new and future families in our Pack thrive in their Cub Scouting experience with us!

Design and Layout:
Our Pack 279 website is split into two sites. One is the PUBLIC SITE webpages and the other is the PRIVATE SITE webpages. To get access to the PRIVATE SITE you will need to be a current member of Pack 279 and get a login ID and password from the Pack's Webmaster. Just click on the "Contact our Pack" link at the top center of this site to contact the Pack Webmaster.

Website Philosophy:
We purposely created this website to contain static (non-changing) general Cub Scouting information. This reduces the amount of time our volunteer Pack Webmaster has to maintain this website. Only Cub Scouting information that is unique or necessary to "new parents" in Cub Scout Pack 279 is typed out on this website. All other general scouting information is linked to sites like the official BSA's (Boy Scouts of America) websites. Also, our Pack 279’s Photo Gallery on the PRIVATE SITE side will have Pack pictures updates added by our Pack Photographer. Furthermore, any personal family pictures should only be on the PRIVATE SITE side, which requires a login and is not for the general public to view. Current and new Pack 279 Webmasters should keep these philosophies in mind when maintaining this website in the future.

Information in this Website:
This PUBLIC SITE webpages has general information about Pack 279, Cub Scouting and how to join Pack 279. The PRIVATE SITE webpages has Pack Leadership and Chair information on how to run our Pack. The PRIVATE SITE webpages also contain our ongoing Pack 279's Photo Gallery. The PRIVATE SITE webpages does not contain any of our Leaders' or family contact information; see the use of ScoutTrack's website below.

Information NOT in this Website:
Current Pack 279’s families need to log into ScoutTrack's website to get all the specific and up-to-date Pack information. New families wanting to join Pack 279 will need to sign up at Rally Night. Parents will then be given access to both this website PRIVATE SITE side and ScoutTrack. All private family information on ScoutTrack's website should NOT be duplicated here on this general Pack 279's ScoutLander website; neither on the PUBLIC SITE webpages nor the PRIVATE SITE webpages. Pack 279 uses ScoutTrack's website exclusively for the below specific information, records and actions:

www.ScoutTrack.com
  • Listing of all our Pack's events and activities in ScoutTrack's "View your Calendar"
  • Membership contact information in ScoutTrack's "Pack Directory"
  • Leadership contact information in ScoutTrack's "Pack Directory"
  • Leaders can create automated mass emails to all Den and Pack families
  • Parents and Den Leaders can fill out Scout's achievements, belt loops and pins in ScoutTrack’s database
  • All other Pack management needs for the Scout's advancements to next Cub Scout Rank
  • Parents can contact Den Leader, Cubmaster, Pack Leadership, Pack Committee members and Chairs
  • Parents can manage their scout son's membership record
