HOLTVILLE CUB SCOUTS - PACK 184

We're glad you're here!

"Cub Scouting is fun! But it is fun with a purpose. Woven though all the fun is an inspired program that really works. Tried and proven methods are used that teach traditional values, build character, and develop leadership skills -- all in the context of fun and family togetherness."(BSA: Operation Tiger Mania 1996)

Parents of young boys face a lot of choices in after-school activities. Boys want to have fun, while parents want them to learn positive values and skills that will last a lifetime. If your boy is about to enter first through fifth grade, Cub Scouting may be exactly what you are both looking for. As a parent, you can be assured that Cub Scouting offers a variety of family activities, encourages good behavior, teaches lifelong values, and strengthens the bonds of family.

Pack 184 is chartered by Cain's Chapel United Methodist Church in Holtville. Our members live in and around the Holtville Community and usually attend Holtville schools. Community involvement is a very important aspect of scouting and we have been fortunate to have Cain's Chapel as a partner for more than 20 years.

Each pack is led by the Cubmaster. Our Cubmaster is Josh Heisler. Packs are made up of dens. Dens are usually made up of 7-10 boys with a Den Leader and 1 or more Asst. Den Leaders. Parental involvement is vital to our program. Parents are encouraged to participate in meetings and Tigers are required to have parent partners at each meeting. The dens generally meet for 1 hour each week on Tuesday nights at 6:30 pm at Cain's Chapel or at a special location for a field trip.  On the last Tuesday of each month we hold a “Pack  Meeting” in the church family life center. The whole family is urged to attend – boys will be recognized for the achievements they have earned during the month.

Dens are divided by grade:

Tiger Cubs are 1st graders, Wolf scouts are 2nd graders, Bear scouts are 3rd graders and 4th & 5th graders are Webelos scouts.

The 1st rank every Cub Scout must earn is  Bobcat. The requirements include learning the Scout promise, Scout handshake, and the Scout Law. These requirements are reviewed in weekly meetings and the “Bobcat” is usually awarded at the 1st pack meeting.

Drop in any Tuesday night and give Cub Scouting a try!
