Information for New Scouts

New Girls

  • Showcase (GS Store at Central Indiana HQ) has all the supplies you will need.  You can purchase the uniform and badges yourself or provide me with the sizes and I can pick them up next time I am there.

  • Brownie Binder - this has the basic badges and general information.  There are a few additional badges, and I can provide copies of those as needed so you don’t need to  purchase them.  I have a full set in Gwen’s binder if you want to review them.  Once you have the book, you will want to review some of the basics on pages 1-25.  Just let me know if you have any questions.

  • Uniform - Either a vest or sash is fine.  I do not have a preference.  Any other items such as shirts or skorts are optional.  They do look nice, but they aren’t required.

  • Basic patches - there are basic elements that are needed for each uniform.  These are covered in the binder and they are the flag, the council  patches, the GS pin, and the WAGGS pin.  You will  also need our troop numbers 236 and our troop  crest - purple pansy.  Some of the patches iron on easy and others are a bit of a pain.

Volunteer Application and Background Check

volunteer application link: http://www.girlscoutsindiana.org/volunteers/volunteerapplication

Once you have completed the application, please forward the response from the council so I can file this with my records.

The council requires everyone that interacts with the girls to have this information on file.  You may have previously completed the first part of the volunteer application.  The link above will also take you to the background check site.  The Girl Scouts would like all volunteers to complete this every year.  I think annual is excessive so I'm comfortable with every other year.  Use the "GSCI pays" link and type in volunteer to have the council pay for the background check.

Once you have completed the background check, you should get the following message:

Girl Scouts of Central Indiana - Volunteers

Complete

Your background check request has been submitted for processing.

Congratulations! You have completed your GSCI volunteer application process. You will receive notification from volunteer@girlscoutsindiana.org within the next 14 days. To return to the Girl Scouts of Central Indiana website, you may click here: http://www.girlscoutsindiana.org/ .
