Why Cub Scouts?

Are you interested in having the best time of your life?  Hanging out with boys your own age?  Learning new things?  Going camping?  Well then look no further than Cub Scouts.  In Cub Scouting, you’ll have lots of fun, adventure, and activities with your den and pack. But there’s more to it than that. Being a Cub Scout means you are a member of a worldwide youth movement that stands for certain values and beliefs. Cub Scouting is more than something to do. It’s all about the boy you are and the person you will become.

Join Pack 678

We have very dedicated volunteer leaders who work hard all year long to provide a nurturing environment for the child.  Your child will feel very rewarded after every requirement they complete.  Scouts work hard all year to earn their rank advancements.  They also have FUN doing it.  Your child will have the ability to bond with other boys the same age as they help each other grow while they work toward receiving their annual rank and the final reward called the Arrow of Light.  We currently have over 80 Scouts in our pack!  We are proud to mold today's boys into tomorrow's men.

For information about joining, please review the information on this website.  You can also contact our Cubmaster, Jason Allswang, at 725-777-8484 or jason.allswang@gmail.com

If you already know you're ready to join, then go to https://tinyurl.com/pack678apply to complete your Scout's application online.  Please make sure to select Boys Life subscription...it is required for all scouts in Pack 678.  If you choose to pay online please be aware that those fees only register your scout until the end of the calendar year.  The pack is required to pay for them for the whole year from September to September, so additional fees will be due at the first pack meeting or at a den meeting when our treasurer is present.  You can pay the pack with cash, check, or credit card.  Please note that an additional service fee will apply to credit card transactions.

General Information

  • IMPORTANT DATES:

    • PACK AWARDS MEETINGS: The pack meets on the following dates.  October 23, 2017, January 22, 2018, and March 20, 2018.  All meetings start at 6:30 pm unless otherwise noted on the calendar you receive from your den leader.  The pack meetings are an opportunity for the dens to showcase what they have done in front of all of the scouts.  Dens perform skits, songs, and cheers and scouts that have earned badges or other awards are presented them at these meetings.  The meetings generally run 1 to 1.5 hours.   Please arrive on time!  These meetings are held at Betsy Rhodes Elementary School at 7350 Tealwood Street.

    • PACK EVENTS: The pack also meets for a few special events during the year as follows.  Raingutter Regatta - December 9, 2017 (Saturday) at 9:00 am, Blue & Gold Banquet - February 12, 2018 at 6:00 pm, and Pinewood Derby - March 17, 2018 (Saturday) at 9:00 am.   These events are held at  Bilbray Elementary School at 9370 Brent Lane.

    • FAMILY CAMPOUT: The pack holds a graduation campout each year that is open to the whole family.  There will be special activities for the kids culminating with a campfire presentation of skits, cheers, and a ceremony for the boys to move to the next rank they are pursuing.  The campout will be held from May 4, 2018 through May 6, 2018.  More information will be given out as the year progresses.

  • REGISTRATION FEES: There is an annual $50 non-refundable registration fee.  If you have more than 1 boy in the pack, the second boy is $45, and the third is $40.  Registration is due no later than the pack meeting on September 25, 2017.  The fee includes registering your scout with the national organization, Boy Scouts of America, and a subscription to Boys’ Life magazine.  Please note that fees quoted on the Boy Scouts of America website are the minimum fees required for registration.  Our pack uses portions of your scout’s fees to pay for the registration and training of our volunteer leaders.

  • PACK DUES: $100 annually, non-refundable, which can be covered completely by meeting the minimum sales requirements in the annual fundraiser (see below).  Pack dues must be paid in full by October 23, 2017.

  • FUNDRAISER: We will be selling Christmas/holiday wreaths, centerpieces, and other decorative items.  Information will be provided at the pack meeting on September 25, 2017.  The fundraiser is optional, but it is a great way to cover your annual pack dues and it is an important way to help fund activities throughout the scout year.  In order to cover the pack dues, you must sell 12 items (accessories excluded).  Any sales under 12 items will be prorated at $8.33 per item.  Please discuss sales over 12 items with your den leaders.
