There are many youth organizations to choose from, such as sports, service clubs and educational programs. As volunteers, we salute these organizations for their work with young people.
The Scouting program, however, goes above and beyond programs offered by traditional youth organizations.
Scouting provides activities that:
- encourage boys to try new things (and sometimes siblings and family, too!),
- nurture love for the outdooors,
- advocate service to others,
- build self-confidence,
- foster new friendships,
- emphasize teamwork,
- cultivate citizenship,
- promote leadership skills,
...and even have fun on the way to new adventures. Where else are kids learning about camping, rock climbing, skiing, survival, archery, shooting, and such other than Scouting? Plus, Scouting strives to instill good values.
Scout Law: A Scout is trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean, and reverent.
