Welcome to the most exciting, youth-planned, youth-run program around ... VENTURING!

Venturing is the young adult program of the Boy Scouts of America for men and women of high school and college ages (14 through 20 years of age -- or age 13 and have completed the eighth grade). The Venturing program is designed to build character, promote citizenship, and develop personal and mental fitness.  Each crew has the responsibility of achieving this purpose by designing its own program.  Through the program, young adults will develop new interests, learn new skills, go to interesting new places, conquer many challenges, make new friends, learn and practice leadership, and most of all...HAVE FUN!!

Venturing is not your typical BSA program... Although there are many award medals available to interested Venturing members, there are no ranks or merit badges, and adult leaders work with the youth side by side in a "shadow leader/mentoring" role.

Each crew has a focus unique to their unit which may be different from other surrounding crews.  The mission of the chartering organization may help to establish what this focus is.  However, the Venturing program is planned by the young adult members. THEY decide what the Crew is going to be about, THEY run the meetings, THEY run the activities. The adult Advisors are only there to guide them along the way in helping them to learn and experience all they can from the activities THEY have chosen.

The success of the Venturing Crew depends on the involvement of the young adults.  Each one is an important person with an important job.  But remember youth.... "If you don't exercise your right to plan, participate in, or lead your crew's programs, you might not have any programs (or if you do, it may not be of your choosing)".

So ... get involved. Be active. The more you put into Venturing, the more you will get out of it. Let's have some FUN!
