The Cub Scouting adventure begins with Tiger Cubs - a program of exciting indoor and outdoor activities just right for a boy who is in first grade and/or is 7 years old. A parent or adult partner works with him as his support and guide, but doesn't do things for him. He will learn by doing things himself. And as he learns and grows, his relationship with his partner will grow, too. There are five Tiger Cub achievement areas. The Tiger Cub, working with his adult partner, completes 15 requirements within these areas to earn the Tiger Cub badge. These requirements consist of an exciting series of indoor and outdoor activities just right for a boy in the first grade. The first step is to complete the Bobcat badge and then he can begin to work on his Tiger badge.

At the end of the school year, he will graduate into a Wolf Cub Scout den. Later, he will be in a Bear den, and then he'll become a Webelos Scout.
