Cub Scout Parents

What is the primary difference between Cub Scouting and Boy Scouting?

Yes, there are age differences.  The scouting program is designed to grow with the boys based on ages and stages.  Younger scouts may be planting a single seed, while older scouts are organizing an entire conservation project. The youngest cub scouts enjoy day camp, while older boy scouts go on high adventures at sea, in the mountains, primitive camping, 100-mile hikes.

The primary difference is that Cub Scouting is run by adults, and Boy Scouting is run by the boys. Cub Scout adults lead den and pack meetings, plan and organize outdoor events, coordinate activities such as Pinewood Derby and SoapBox Derby, execute the cub scout birthday party - the annual Blue and Gold banquet.  Every single family is expected to pitch in and help in some way - whether as an adult leader day in and day out, or for short-term event planning.  Get involved!  Parents beam with pride when their son has worked for and earned a scouting achievement.  Watch your son beam with pride when his mom or dad is recognized for their work as well. Boys learn by example.  Be what you want your boys to become - a leader, a volunteer, a person who lives the Scout Spirit!

Yours in Scouting,
