About Us

  Troop Philosophy
  • Girl Led
  • Structured to allow girls to participate as much as their schedules will allow
  • Give girls the opportunity to learn and use outdoor skills
  • Use the Girl Scout Leadership Experience (GSLE) framework of Discover, Connect, Take Action, including the opportunity to earn the Girl Scout Silver and Gold Awards.

What does Girl Led really mean?
Girl Led simply means that girls will take an active role in figuring out the “what, where, when, how and why” of their troop activities. The girls will play a critical role as decision-makers . By using this model, we will strengthen each girl's personal empowerment and leadership skills. Troop leaders will facilitate and mentor the girls as they plan their activities as well as teach the girls leadership and decision making skills.

What does Discover,Connect, Take Action mean?
Through GSLE, the girls will discover who they are and what they value; connect with others; and take action to make the world a better place. The Girl Scout Journeys are one way for the girls to explore these concepts.

Are there troop dues?
Upon joining the troop each girl member will be asked to pay $50 in troop dues.  It is the troop's goal that troop money earning activities  like the Girl Scout Cookie Program will fund the troop’s activities going forward. Each girl and at least one parent also need to be active members of Girl Scouts.

What is the uniform requirement?
Uniforms are to be supplied by the girl. Each girl may choose either the vest or sash which is to be worn with a white shirt and khaki pants, shorts or skort. The troop will supply all girls with the troop numbers and the troop crest. All girls must have a uniform and will be asked to wear them when representing Girl Scouts (e.g. traveling, cookie sales, other official events).

Does the Troop need adult volunteers?

YES! Family support is critical to the success of our troop.  There are all kinds of ways to volunteer from administrative roles to chaperoning meetings, camp outs and outings.
