 Cub Scout Trail

Scouts progress on the Cub Scout Trail from rank to rank, gaining new skills along the way.  Each new rank in Cub Scouts let the boys experience new adventures and each has it’s own set of requirements.  Boys move through the ranks based on age & grade level.

Wherever your Scout starts on the Cub Scout Trail, he must first earn his Bobcat Rank.  The requirements for the Bobcat are:

* Learn and say the Cub Scout motto, Oath, & Law.  Tell what they mean.

* Show the Cub Scout sign, salute, & handshake.  Tell what they mean.

* Show that you understand and believe that it is important to be honest and trustworthy

.

The start of the trail begins with the Tigers.  Tigers are in 1st grade (or age7).  Along their journey, Tigers will complete adventures both in their den meetings and at home.  Parents are an integral piece to completing the Tiger rank, you will work alongside your Scout on this leg of the trail.  Boys will also complete the Cyber Chip for their age group.

In Second grade (or age 8), your Scout will become a Wolf.  To obtain the rank of Wolf, boys must complete 6 adventures and one elective adventure.  They will also earn the Cyber Chip for their age.  After completing requirements, they may begin working on elective adventures to gain new skills.

Bear Rank is earned during a Scout’s 3rd grade year (or age 9).  Bear adventures are a bit harder than those for the Wolf, but as your Scout gets older he is getting more prepared to cross over in Boy Scouts.  Bears will earn their rank after completing 6 adventures and one elective.  They will also earn the Cyber Chip for their rank.  After completing requirements, boys can begin working on other electives.

Webelos is split into 2 years.  1st year Webelos (4th grade or age 10) are working towards their Webelos Rank.  They are working on 6 adventures and 2 electives to earn their rank.  2nd year Webelos (5th grade or age 11) are working towards their Arrow of Light.  The  Arrow of Light is the highest achievement in Cub Scouts and the only badge you can you wear on your uniform once you cross over into Boy Scouts.
