Venture Crew members in drill for a mass casualty


On Sunday, October 11, 2009, the Mombasha Fire Company held a mass incident drill with cooperation from the Monroe-Woodbury School District at their parking lot on Mine Road.

Two out-of-service school buses and a wrecked car were used to simulate a major traffic accident with approximately 70 persons participating in the four-hour event.

Four Venture scouts  from Crew 40, volunteered, along with other volunteers served as real-life victims as local volunteer fire departments from Monroe, Lakeside, Harriman and Woodbury responded for extraction. Local volunteer ambulance organizations from Monroe, Woodbury, and Mobile Life Service Paramedics attended to the victims.

Wreath Laying Ceremony at Arlington National Cemet


Scouts and Venturers from Troop 340 and Crew 40 Lay a Wreath at Arlington national Cemetary On April 19th 2009  Venturers from Venture Crew 40 and Scouts from Troop 340 of Monroe, New York had the honor of participating in a Wreath Laying Ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery as part or a 4 day Trip to Washington D.C.. The Trip Included an evening bus tour of the City with stops at many of the memorials including the Lincoln, Jefferson an FDR Memorials, the WWII, Korean, and Vietnam Memorials. Tours of the Capitol building, Library of congress, Native American Museum and the Holocaust Museum, as well as Visits to the offices of Congressman Hall and U.S. Senator Gillibrand.
