F.A.Q. - Frequently Asked Questions

What is a Den?

A den is a group of six to eight boys in the same grade or age group. There are five types of dens:

  • Tiger
  • Wolf
  • Bear
  • Webelos
  • Arrow of Light

What are Den Meetings?

Den meetings are a time for learning new things and having fun. Dens are led by a team of adult volunteers - the den leader and assistant den leader(s). Den leaders are usually adult family members of boys in the den.

What is a pack?

A pack is the combination of all the dens within a given Pack #.

How often do Cub Scouts meet?

Den meetings occur twice a month from September to May the following year. The day, time and place are coordinated by the den leader with input from all the parents of the scouts.

Pack meetings occur once a month on either a Thursday or Friday night. Typically this meeting is held on the thirdThursday of the month (unless directed otherwise) at Martin Kellogg Middle School. Starting time is usually 6:30 p.m. (unless directed otherwise).

What do scouts do at these meetings?

Den meetings: learning new things, having fun and working on projects, skits, and accomplishments to be presented at the Pack Meetings

Pack meetings: a time to recognize the scouts for their accomplishments during the month, a time to perform skits and to have fun with the entire family.

Do scouts go on any trips?

Each month a travel activity is planned for the scouts to participate in. These activities range from hikes, trips to different points of interest, baseball games and hockey games to name a few. The Pack typically pays for all or a significant portion of the costs associated with these activities for the scouts. Family members ares invited to attend these activities as well, but are responsible for paying for any costs themselves.

What does it cost to join scouting?

Cost is $55.00 per scout year. This cost covers the annual fee along with a one year subscription to Boys Life Magazine.

Uniform and accessories are additional. Any awards earned through the scout year will be paid for by the Pack.
