 ”Include, Involve, Inspire…

Outwit, Outplay, Out-Scout”

OCTOBER 16-18, 2015

It’s that time of year again! We’re happy to announce that the Cub Scout Survivor Challenge is accepting applications. We’ll be working on our academic, physical and Scouting skills throughout the day. Check in will be Friday night from 6-8pm and 8-9am on Saturday morning. Trailers may arrive between 5-6pm and no later for safety reasons. If you arrive before 5pm there may not be anyone to allow you in the locked gates. If you need to arrive early please call Michelle to make arrangements in advance. A schedule of events will be passed out to each unit’s leader at check in. Lunch on Saturday is included with the registration fees and is the only meal provided. The gateway contest (campsite entrance designed and built by the kids; Packs supply the materials) will be judged at lunchtime on Saturday and the winning Pack announced at Campfire. There will be a Dutch Oven cooking contest open to everyone on Saturday night judging will be at 630 at the stage. Main dish or dessert entries welcome and must be cooked at the campout not precooked and reheated. Saturday evening we’ll be having our annual costume parade so please bring candy to pass out to those that are dressed up (kids may bring & wear any costume they want) and a Campfire program following the parade. Each unit should prepare a song or skit to share! A brief Sunday service will be at 845 am and last approximately 15 minutes all Scouts are expected to be present as Scouts are Reverent. Reminder No Alcohol, Tobacco, or Pets permitted inside the fairgrounds. NO GROUND FIRES! No firewood in dumpster or trash bags you bring it in you haul it out. No unauthorized vehicles are permitted to enter the fairgrounds. No vehicles except the station volunteers, emergency personnel and the tractor are allowed inside the gate beginning at 6pm on Friday until Sunday Morning at 10am unless prior arrangements have been made. We have a tractor to assist you with moving your gear to/from your site. There are too many small children at play to risk having vehicles driving around; this is for the safety of your children and others. Please make sure all your gear is labeled, as we are NOT responsible for lost or misplaced items. We suggest using totes for items instead of numerous small bags. Register now so supplies are available for your Cub Scout Survivors! This event takes place at the Onslow County Fairgrounds behind the National Guard Armory in Jacksonville, NC.
