Tiger Cubs - Go See Its - October 2011

The Tigers have been busy in October. They went on a total of four Go See It's among the two Dens.
The Tigers visited Frying Pan Park and saw the animals and the BlackSmith in action, the Burke Fire Station and got to shoot the water canon, a high school football game at Lake Braddock High School, and a hike at Lake Accotink! Whew! With all these Go See It's, the boys will have completed their Tiger requirements before they know it!

Webelos Campout - October 2011

The Webelos and Arrows of Light dens went on a overnight campout to the Quantico Marine Corps Base. They were treated to a weekend of perfect, cool Fall weather! The Webelos practiced:
  • first-aid for the Readyman badge
  • assembled their tents and dining fly with the correct knots
  • tried their hands at building and starting their own fires and
  • had a fire building contest for the Outdoorsman badge

Pack Meeting & Raingutter Regatta - September 2011

We held our first pack meeting last night and it was jam packed. We built and raced home made boats in our raingutter tracks, participated in some cooperation games - including a three legged race and crossing some wooden lilly pads with one 2x4 without falling off, and had an awards ceremony.

We recognized all the accomplishments of the Goshen Summer Camp participants including the pack ribbons for Goshen Summer Camp, Diamond W Award, and the Adventurer Award. We were only 1 of about 5 packs that received the additional awards out of over 20 packs in attendance.

Summer Pool Party - August 2011

Pack 991 finished off the summer with a pool party where returning scouts and new and prospective members were encouraged to attend. In addition to popsicles, pizza and a dip in the pool, there was some additional splashing going on in the form of pies in the faces of a few leaders.... just for fun.

Goshen Scout Camp - July 2011

9 great scouts and 5 adult volunteers braved the heat in July to  attend a week at Goshen Scout Reservation, Camp Ross, for a great week of camp. We hiked, funooed, shot bows and arrows and bb guns, caught fish, had fire building races and earned lots of badges!

Summer Camp Out - June 2010

Well, the campout was a rain out, but some folks got to practice setting up and taking down their tents anyway... we held a rain make up on the school yard and had our own award ceremony and cross overs accompanied by a feast and some dutch oven cooking and smores!
