Friends of Scouting

Friends of Scouting is the single largest source of income for the Longs Peak Council. The funds are used to pay for the camping programs, facilities, equipment, maintenance, staff salaries, advancement expenses, adult training, youth leadership training, insurance, Scout service centers, camporees, and other activities that are so important to providing the high caliber, exciting program that our boys deserve.

When you add all that up, it costs the council $208 this year to support each boy in Scouts.  Looking at the benefits of the program – providing the skills, confidence, and preparation to ready them for the challenges of becoming adults, all in an outdoor-oriented, positive environment, it is an excellent investment in each boy.

It isn’t necessary, or even expected, that each pledge will cover the entire $208.   The goal of the campaign is $77 per Scout.  Many families choose to pledge more than $208, others less.  But whatever you can give, it will help the council continue to provide such a rich program to our Scouts.  The pledge may be paid in installments, so the whole amount doesn’t have to be paid all at once.

There are also direct benefits to the Pack for achieving our Friends of Scouting goal.  Our goal this year is a little over $1700 for the Pack.  If we achieve that goal, the boys all receive 10% off day camp fees and/or $5 off per boy, per night for Camp Nicol, and the pack receives free Rank Advancement Patches and parent pins.  These incentives add up to a substantial savings for the Pack over the coming year.

Thank you for your heartfelt pledges and your continued commitment to Scouts and to our sons.
