Boy Scout Troop 429 is sponsored by First Christian Church in Concord, California. Our weekly meetings occur on Monday nights starting at 7PM. We are a part of the Mt. Diablo Silverado Council, Muir District of the Boy Scouts of America
Troop 429 was founded in the early 1970’s and has continually provided life skills training, outdoor adventures and leadership development to Scouts in Concord, California. We have a rich tradition Scout Rank Advancement with well over 40 Eagle Scouts. Troop 429 also has a strong tradition in Scout skill competitions winning numerous camping, District and Council Awards.
The troop is run by the Patrol Leader's Council (PLC) which is made up of the Senior Patrol Leader (elected by the boys) and Patrol Leaders from each Patrol (elected) along with other Troop officers(selected by the Scoutmaster and Assistant Scoutmasters). The Scoutmaster gives advice to the SPL and PLC as they plan and execute the program.
We have at least one outing per month,which is selected and planned by the scouts of the Troop.
Typical outings have included:
- Monthly Themes revolving around Advancement and Merit Badge Completion
- Weeklong Summer Camp (July)
- Shooting Camp & District Camporees
- Themed Campouts to various locations
- Scouting for Food
- Service Projects
- And much, much more!
Boy Scouting is for any boy which has completed the fifth grade (or earned the Arrow of Light Award) until they turn 18.
