WHERE DO YOU MEET?
Maplewood Pack 3 is chartered by and hosted at Prospect Presbyterian Church, 646 Prospect Street, Maplewood, NJ.

WHAT IS A CUB SCOUT PACK?
Pack 3 is made up of Dens-smaller units/ranks of by grade:
Lions, Kindergarten
Tigers, 1st Grade
Wolves, 2nd Grade
Bears, 3rd Grade
Webelos, 4th Grade
Webelos-Arrow of Light, 5th Grade

WHEN ARE MEETINGS HELD?
Den Meetings are held one or two times a month throughout the school year (except for Lions, which meet once a month), most often at Prospect Church. The meeting days and times are scheduled based on what works best for each Den. Meetings are conducted by a leader and an assistant. We ask that a parent attend meetings to help keep the scouts actively engaged. Scouts will participate in activities and work on projects that are related to an adventure and that help them learn the skills they need to progress in rank.

Pack Meetings, when Scouts from all Dens meet together along with their families, are held on the 3rd Thursday of the month at 7pm at Prospect Presbyterian Church. We often have special speakers or events at our Pack Meetings. In the past we have had a magician, karate demonstrations, skits put on by the Dens, and much more! The pack meeting is also when Scouts receive acknowledgement of their accomplishments as they meet the requirements for the different advancements for their ranks.

WHAT OTHER FUN THINGS DO YOU DO?

We do lots of other fun activities to which Scouts and their entire families are welcome. We camp out several times a year and once a year, we "camp in." In the past we have "camped in" at the Liberty Science Center and on the Battleship New Jersey.

In January we hold our Pinewood Derby, where Scouts and their siblings transform a block of wood into a race car and compete for speed, design, and overall Cub Spirt!

In June we hold our Model Rocket Launch in Memorial Park.

We do community service by helping to pick up trash in the many Maplewood parks and at Prospect Church as well as show our community spirit by marching in the Maplewood Memorial Day Parade.

Our one fundraiser for the Pack is our annual popcorn sale. Last year our Pack was one of the top sellers in the District!

WHAT IS THE PARENT/GUARDIAN'S ROLE IN CUB SCOUTING?

Cub Scouting is not a "drop off" activity. Family involvement is a key part of Cub Scouting; the Lion and Tiger programs in particular require an adult partner and an adult should attend all meetings with their Lion and/or Tiger Scouts. While the other ranks do not involve an adult partner in the same way, it is still important for an adult partner to attend meetings with their Scout. It is the responsibility of the parent/guardian to monitor their own Scout's behavior.
