Program Year

·         September through April for Pack and Den meetings.

·         Summer activities are held from May through August.    Examples include: Senator’s game and sleepover, Ice Cream Social, fishing, tubing, swimming, kick ball and hiking.

·         Additional Pack activities are held throughout the year: Winter Camp, Hershey Bears hockey game, Halloween Parade, etc.

What types of activities will my child do in Cub Scouts?

·         The boys will take part in arts and crafts, games and outdoor activities while learning and applying Cub Scouting’s core values.  Some of the activities will center on learning about family, community, health and safety, and the outdoors.  We want to remain focused on the boys having fun and following the Cub Scout motto of “Do Your Best”.

 ·         There will also be lots of other fun activities, including a family picnic, camping and participation in the Mechanicsburg Halloween parade.  An opportunity to help out the community will be present with the Scouting for Food drive in November.  Fun annual events include the Pinewood Derby where scouts make and race their own small cars and Winter Camp.

Camping Activities

·         Pack 195 will hold a Winter Camp at Camp Tuckahoe or Hidden Valley in early 2017. The Pack will be working on a number of advancement activities, and having some good old-fashioned fun around the Campfire.  Scouts come for the day on Saturday or spend one/two night(s) tenting or in the cabins with adult partners.

 ·         Webelos II Scouts (fifth graders) will participate in one or more camping trips with a local Boy Scout troop.  These activities are designed to prepare the boys for the transition from Cub Scouting to Boy Scouting, and will help the boys and their parents decide which Boy Scout Troop to join.

·         Some scouts also participate in Webelos I and Webelos II camps in the summer.  These camps are sponsored by the New Birth of Freedom Council, and are designed to help the boys (going from third grade to fourth grade, and fourth grade to fifth grade) in the Webelos dens advance through the Webelos requirements to achieve their Arrow of Light award.

·         New Birth of Freedom Council also sponsors other camps throughout the year for Cub Scouts of all ages at Camp Tuckahoe.
