2015 FRIENDS OF SCOUTING CAMPAIGN
Friends of Scouting is the opportunity for parents and Scouters to support the program in which they or their children are participating. Each year, the Chippewa Valley Council spends $150 per registered youth member, above and beyond the national registration fee, to maintain the needed support for the Scouting program. Money raised through FOS provides funding for organizing new units, developing and coordinating volunteer adult training programs, handling advancement and member registration, maintaining quality camping programs, and recruiting Scouts and volunteers.
Packs and Troops should be selecting a date for their 2015 Friends of Scouting presentation. The best dates for Packs are typically Blue & Gold Banquets and Troop presentations typically work best at Courts of Honor. Presentations should occur by March 31, 2015. Please submit your Pack/Troop presentation date to your District Executive or District Friends of Scouting Chair.

VOLUNTEER RANGER/COMMISSIONER
Adults are needed for the Volunteer Ranger and Commissioner Staff. Each program provides room and board for a week at camp and in return all that Camp Phillips asks is that you help camp out with a couple projects depending on your role. Depending on availability, volunteers will be housed at the “House with a View” on beautiful Bear Lake.
Volunteer Ranger - Volunteers will work with the Ranger staff on projects such as campsite maintenance, new construction, and building maintenance. The task that volunteer Rangers will be working on depends on their skill set, if they are welders they will be welding, etc. Camp Phillips can always use an extra hand to keep our over 100 buildings in working order.
Volunteer Commissioner - The Commissioner’s role is to be a friend to every Scout and Scouter that steps foot at Camp Phillips. They will work with the commissioner staff to provide services to Troops throughout the week as well as other support roles such as campsite inspection, program support, supply organization, and much more.
This program is all about what the volunteers want to do the week they are at camp. For more information or to register, please contact Terri Jay at 715-832-6671 or terjay@bsamail.org.

COMMUNITY SERVICE
Making community service a part of your Pack or Troop's overall program is a true win-win for all involved.  The community benefits as organizations or individuals receive valuable help.  While you're giving service, your Scouts are learning to work together with others to do something that's good for your community, and it teaches your youth some valuable lifelong lessons about being involved in their community and the benefit that can be provided by volunteerism.
In addition to doing the Community Service, share what you are doing!  This is a great way to make connections in the community and get the word out about all the great things your Scouts are doing.  This may be a way to recruit new Scouts or parents to your unit as well.
Because of the importance of positive news in our communities and the Scouting Program, we will be continuing the Good News Contests for 2015.
For more information, please go to the following link: 3rd Annual Good News Contest
There is also a page on the Council website dedicated to Community Service and Good News.
