Academics and Sports Program
The Cub Scout Academics and Sports program gives Cub Scouts the opportunity to receive recognition for exploring different areas of interest. Cub Scouts earn belt loops which can be worn on the official Cub Scout belt when they investigate one of these areas. When they explore one of the topics further, they earn a pin. The pins are not worn on the uniform.
For the most part, this is a supplemental program rather than part of the regular Cub Scout advancement program. A couple of the belt loops are requirements for Wolf Elective 20. And many of the belt loops can be used to fulfill various requirements in the Webelos program. Usually these are optional rather than required though.
