Pack 540 Resources

· Scouting aims to promote Character Development, Citizenship Training, and Personal Fitness and is designed to provide opportunities for families to work and play together, to have fun together, and to get to know each other a little better.  The Cub Scout Parent Information Guide will let you know how parents are an integral part of the Scouting experience.  Also visit the website for BSA > Cub Scouts.

· Cub Scout Adventures - Cub Scouts have the opportunity to earn both required and elective recognition devices as they work toward their ranks. They also can earn recognition for additional elective adventures they choose to complete beyond those required for their rank. Tiger, Wolf, and Bear Scouts earn adventure loops to be worn on their belt, and Webelos Scouts earn pins they can wear on their Webelos colors or Webelos cap. All new scouts work to earn the Bobcat Rank first, no matter what age you start.  Rank Adventures are achieved by working through the Den's Handbook with the Goal of Achieving rank by the Blue & Gold Banquet in February.  The Sports Program and Academic Programs (belt-loops and pins) has been discontinued, with some features merged into the various "Adventures".

This is tracked in our Pack on ScoutTrack.com

·         Our local Scouts have a weekly newsletter called the Digital Eagle that will give you all the latest updates on activities, and happenings with Scouting in Shelby County. Register at www.1bsa.org (the signup box is at the bottom of the page).

·         Protecting our youth is a top priority.  Youth Protection Training is required for all registered BSA volunteers, and it provides good information about child safety for everyone. The directions on the right of this page will link to MyScouting.org where you can go ahead and get certified.

·         Once you have signed in on MyScouting.org you will have access to eLearning which includes a Cub Scout tab for "Fast Start Training." This is helpful for parents as well as leaders as it introduces goals of Scouting and then focuses in on the role of Tiger Cub Leader, Den Leader, Webelos Den Leader, or Cubmaster. This program typically takes no more than an hour to complete.
