The most important object in Boy Scout training is to educate, not instruct.
SILENT EXAMPLE
An older scout was walking down the sidewalk and came across a “not-so-nice”
four letter word written in chalk. Without saying a word, he rubbed the word out
with his feet and then kept on walking. When he would come to another word
like this, he would rub it out with his feet also without saying anything and then
keep on walking. The younger kids in his neighborhood would watch this
happen and soon, every time that they would find a four-letter word written on
their sidewalks they would rub it out also.
It’s amazing what the power of suggestion can do if used in the right way. This
is the way that scouting sets the example.
