Camping

If there's one thing our boys look forward to as scouts it's camping out. We provide many different opportunities for our boys to camp during the spring, summer and fall months. Recent campouts have included Lake Jericho, the Perryville Civil War Reenactment, the Abbey of Gethsemane and Mammoth Cave National Park.

On every campout we have at least one adult leader that is BALOO (Basic Adult Leader Outdoor Orientation) trained. The safety of our boys is a high priority. So we also practice two-deep leadership. No adult leader is allowed to be alone with a camper unless that camper is his own son. Two adult leaders must be present at all times.

Each family brings its own tent, sleeping bags and other equipment. Cubs sleep in tents with their families. The only exception is Webelos. As preparation for their eventual transition to Boy Scouts, Webelos are allowed to sleep in tents together without an adult present. We also believe in the Cub Scout "Leave No Trace" program. So whenever we break camp, we clean up all litter and make sure the campsite looks as clean as the way we found it.

If you're going to camp with us, make sure you don't leave anything essential at home. You can download a handy camping checklist from this attachment.
