So You Just Joined Cub Scouts. Now What?



Welcome to Pack 501

Welcome to Pack 501

 

We are very excited to welcome yourfamily into our pack family! We look forward to getting to know your family andhaving a fun filled year.  To help yourfamily get off to a great start, we have compiled a list of what to do next.

1.      Complete your Cub Scout/ Adult application.  Turn in membership dues and fee for Scouting or Boys Life Magazine. 

2.      Complete Youth Parent TrainingRequirements:

      Complete online at www.scouting.org/Training/YouthProtection.aspx

3.       Have your scout complete his Bobcat requirements.  All new scouts must complete their Bobcat requirements before they can proceed to earn any other ranks.  Requirements are listed in the front of each level scout guidebook or you can find them on our pack website under the link Bobcat on the secure site.

4.      Adult Volunteers, Den leaders, Committee Members: Complete required training courses andYouth protection training.  Turn in a copy of training completion certificates to Cubmaster or Committee Chair.

·Leader/Committee Member meetings are once a month.

·Training is available at www.myscouting.scouting.orgVisit to set up your account.

5.      Check your email for an invitation to our Pack website www.hpapack501.scoutlander.org   This website contains lots of helpful information, our events calendar, pack roster, and various updates from den leaders.

 

6.Know when and where we meet:

Den Meetings are the first three weeks of each month:

When: Wednesdays 6:30pm- 7:45pm

Where: High Point Academy

6750 N. Dunkirk St.

Aurora, CO 80019

·Pack Meetings will be the last Wednesday of every month.

·If there is a fifth Wednesday in a month, there will not be a boys meeting, it will be used for a leader/committee meeting.

 

7.Scout Uniforms:

Can be purchased at the Denver Area Council Scout Shop

You can use Badge Magic to apply the insignia and patches, sew them on yourself, or for a $10.00 fee Audrey Bixler (committee member) will sew the insignia onto the uniform for you. 

 

8.      Learn more about scouts.  Visit www.denverboyscouts.org to get information about activities throughout the year.
