Let's
make a final push! - LESS THAN TWO WEEKS LEFT
- I'm sure that you have been communicating
weekly to keep your Scouts and parents focused on the sale, as this keeps
enthusiasm high and yields higher results overall.
- It's time now to make an extra special
effort to infuse some new enthusiasm and energy into the campaign. Maybe
offer a mid-sale prize or giveaway. Call out some exceptional sellers.
Be creative. The point is to find something that motivates
both Scouts and Parents to give this an extra effort before the sale ends
in LESS THAN TWO WEEKS.
- Be sure that your scouts have set a
goal ($600+) and are working diligently towards their goal.
- Publically celebrate the scouts' progress
by recognizing them at pack or troop meetings. Share stories of how much
your scouts are selling. Drive friendly competition.
- Regularly promote the prizes and other
rewards.
- Remind scouts and parents of WHY they
are selling and of important dates / deadlines.
- Continue to promote all three sales
methods, Show & Sell, Take Orders and On-Line!

Take
Orders are Due by October 26
- Here is some guidance
- All take order forms needs to be entered
into the popcorn system (here),
no later than October 26.
- That means that you need to collect
the forms from your Scouts before
then so that you can enter the orders in by that date. This takes
some time and effort, so please don't wait to the last day / hour.
- Entries into the popcorn system must
be BY SCOUT. That means that each scout has their own entry in your
unit and they have their individual amounts for Show & Sell, Take Orders
and On-Line sales entered for them. This then allows you to determine
the prizes that they are entitled to.
- Show & Sell data: The amount
sold for each Scout comes from your unit's own tracking of the various
show & sell events that you held. Typically Scouts get credit
for a portion of the sales since several other scouts may have been present
at the same time. For example, if 4 Scouts sold $400 of popcorn,
then each would received credit for $100 of Show & Sell. The
$100 is entered into the popcorn system for each Scout.
- Take Order data: This comes right
off of the Take Order forms the Scouts turn into you. I recommend
that they give you a copy and keep the original since they will need it
to deliver the popcorn in November. You do not need to enter every single
sale from these sheets (although you can). Many kernels chose to
only enter a single line (the total) for each Scout. Just be SURE
that you did your math correctly. :-)
- On-Line Sales data: This comes
from the Trails End web site. You have to register as a leader and
run a report for your unit. See below about on-line sales. Enter the data
for each Scout from this report into the popcorn system. (yes, these systems
should be linked, but they are not, sorry)
- Prizes! Now that you have the
data from all three sales methods entered into the popcorn system by Scout,
you get a total sales amount computed per Scout. You can use this
value to determine the prizes that each Scout is entitled to. Most
kernels will ask the Scouts what prizes they want when they collect the
Take Order forms. YOU need to place the prize order for your unit
shortly after submitting the Take Order on 10/26.

- REMEMBER
that you should deduct any left over Show & Sell product from your
Take Order order before submitting to Council. Order Adjustments
are applied in the form of negative numbers on the final Unit Take
Order page in the Popcorn System. This way you can utilize your left
over Show & Sell popcorn to fulfill Take Orders.

How
Scouts can use the On-Line Sales System
- Each Scout must self-register
BEFORE a customer can purchase products on-line from that Scout.
- Scouts can register here: http://sell.trails-end.com/scout/register
- Once the Scout registers, they can generate
emails from within that system.
- The customers who receive those emails
MUST follow a unique link (URL) in that email. Following that link ensures
credit to that Scout and your unit.
- Scouts must also be careful that their
account lists the correct Pack, Troop or Crew. If you are reusing
an old account, you may need to update this if you are now with a new unit.
- Leaders, be careful not to use your
primary email address to register your scout in this system. As leaders,
you should be registering in that system as a leader so that you can generate
reports about the on-line sales for your unit. (You will need this data
for order prizes later)
- Leader registration can be found here:
http://sell.trails-end.com/leader/register
- When registering as a leader, you will
need the Validation Code which is popcorn
