As I mentioned at the last Pack meeting, we will be building and launching model rockets this fall. Rockets are now available at Hobby Lobby on Route 31 in Clay. Please stop in and pick one up. Just go directly to the cash registers and tell them you are with Pack 117 and a special order was placed for the Skywriter model rocket. It looks like a big pencil. It is $12.00. You do not need to buy anything else other than the rocket. (Engines, wadding, etc. supplied by the Pack.) In the past, there was some confusion on their part at the store, but please be persistent and make sure they get one for you. They are there.
We will build these in our den meetings on November 4. Unless otherwise specified by your respective den leaders, you will need to bring white glue, a model knife or other very sharp knife, a small ruler, a pencil and scissors. Look for emails from den leaders. We will launch them at 1:30pm at Fayetteville-Manlius High School sports fields on November 9, weather permitting. If the weather is questionable, keep a close eye out for an email status.
