Troop Meetings

Troop 324 typically meets on Mondays from 7:00-8:30 pm, at St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church, 8350 Lake Murray Blvd., San Diego. Scouts and leaders are expected to arrive on time, in uniform, and prepared. Please do not leave your son at any meeting place until you have verified that at least 2 Adult Scout Leaders are present. Plan to pick up scout promptly at end of meeting. The PLC plans and conducts all troop meetings under the direction of the Senior Patrol Leader. At the meetings, we plan and train for the important monthly camp-outs. Parents and visitors are always welcome at our meetings.

PLC Meetings

The PLC generally meets once per quarter. At the meeting, the PLC plans the troop meetings and outing programs through the next PLC meeting. Attendance is restricted to PLC members, Scoutmaster and interested adult leaders. Adult leaders may give suggestion, but they do not have a vote. However, the Scoutmaster always has veto power over PLC decisions.

Parent/Troop Committee Meetings

The Troop Committee generally meets once per month on the third Monday during the troop meeting or as scheduled. The Committee Chairperson and Scoutmaster jointly plan the agenda. Upcoming events, troop policies, and ideas the adult leaders wish to present to the PLC and any activities the PLC has voted for are discussed at these meetings. Tasks requiring adult involvement is assigned. Attendance is open to all Troop Committee Members, adult leaders, and all interested scout parents. All registered adults of the troop may vote at that meeting, excluding the Scoutmaster.

Court of Honor Meetings

A Troop 324 Court of Honor takes the place of a regular troop meeting. Attendance is open to all members (Scouts, Adult leaders, Troop Committee Members, and member families), interested family friends and relatives, and visitors who are interested in joining a scout troop. Since rank patches are presented as soon as possible after being earned, the Court of Honor is the formal recognition, in front of the parents, of rank certificates, mother’s pins, and of all other significant accomplishments that have occurred since the last Court of Honor. Merit badges and other awards are also presented. A reception follows the ceremony.

Annual Planning Meeting (Family Camp)

Troop 324 plans its program from October through October. The annual planning Meeting usually occurs in October during a family campout. Using information from the boys, and input from the PLC, we put together the next program year. Adult leaders for each trip are assigned and a calendar is put into place.
