Fees, Expenses, Fundraining and Boy Account

Fees

To join Boy Scouts there is a yearly registration fee. This fee includes the Boys registration, subscription to Boys Life, and the adult registration. We require that at least one Parent or guardian register with the boy. Please Contact the Troop Treasurer for current fees.

Expenses

We strive to reduce expenses for the program (a scout is thrifty), however, there are necessary expenses for each of the outings that we go on. Some of these expenses are:

*Uniform

*Summer Camp

*Special Events

*Food for Overnight meals

*Transportation

*Fees for overnights

*Day outings

*Camporees & District/Council Overnights

Fundraising

In order to offset some of the above expenses, we participate in a number of fundraisers throughout the year. Some of the Troop fund-raisers have been:

*Rummage Sale

*Annual Popcorn Sales

*Petco Park Concessions

*Scout Fair Tickets

*E-Scrip for Ralph’s, Von’s, Albertsons and more

Boy Account

We expect families to encourage their sons to develop thrift by requiring them to earn a reasonable part of their scouting expenses. The troop helps by putting a portion of the fees and fund raising moneys the boy helped to earn into the individual boy’s account. The boy can use the money in his account for scouting related items (summer camp, equipment, outings, etc…). Any money earned through fundraising (popcorn sales, e-scrip, etc.) in the name of scouting must be used for scouting related expenses. If a scout transfers to a new troop, upon request, funds remaining in the individual Boy Account may be transferred to another troop for scouting expenses. Funds may also be used for payment to a summer camp or other BSA sponsored activity. If a scout decides to leave the troop, the fundraising balance in the Boy Account will be held in his name for one calendar year, in the hopes that the scout will return. After a year, the money will be absorbed into the troop's general fund. The funds will not be disbursed to the individual.

The e-scrip program is an easy way to start getting money into your boy account. You need to fill out appropriate forms and get started; money will start to trickle into your account. Enroll your family and earn even more. Please contact the Troop Treasurer for more information on how to get started.
